Our advice is only worth as much as it is independent. This statement sets out how we keep our sourcing recommendations objective and free from bias, and how we treat everyone we work with fairly and without discrimination.
01Impartial sourcing advice
BetterAlta recommends suppliers on the merits of the client's requirement — not on the basis of any benefit to us. Our shortlists, verification findings and gate decisions are grounded in evidence: capability, quality, compliance, cost, capacity and risk. We do not favour a supplier because of an existing relationship, a referral, or any expected reward.
02No undisclosed commission or kickbacks
You pay us for our advice — not suppliers. BetterAlta is paid by our clients for advisory work. We do not accept undisclosed commissions, referral fees, rebates or incentives from suppliers in return for recommending them. If any supplier-side arrangement ever exists, it will be disclosed to the client in writing so it can be taken into account.
03Managing conflicts of interest
We identify and manage conflicts of interest openly. Where a potential conflict could affect the independence of our advice — for example a prior relationship with a supplier under consideration — we disclose it and, where appropriate, remove the affected party from the assessment. Conflict checks are part of our governed gate process and are recorded.
04Evidence over preference
Every recommendation is traceable to the criteria agreed with the client at the start of an engagement. Suppliers are assessed against the same standards, applied consistently, and the reasoning is captured in the audit pack delivered at the close of each engagement. This makes our advice reviewable, not simply assertible.
05Equality and non-discrimination
BetterAlta is committed to treating clients, suppliers, partners, contractors and staff fairly and with respect. We do not discriminate on the basis of any protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010 — age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.
This commitment applies across everything we do, including how we select and assess suppliers, how we build our teams, and how we engage contractors. Suppliers are evaluated on capability and compliance, never on the identity or background of the people who run them.
06Scope of our standards
Our ISO 9001:2015 alignment and internal governance standards apply to BetterAlta's own processes. We do not impose our internal certifications on clients or suppliers; instead, we assess suppliers against the requirements agreed for each engagement.
07Raising a concern
If you ever believe our advice has been influenced by bias, an undisclosed interest, or unfair treatment, tell us. Email hello@betteralta.com and we will review it promptly and openly. Feedback of this kind is welcomed and handled under our quality-management process.
