BetterAlta operates a zero-tolerance approach to bribery and corruption. We conduct our business honestly and comply with the Bribery Act 2010 and all applicable anti-corruption laws.
01Our commitment
We are committed to acting fairly and with integrity in all our dealings and relationships, and to implementing effective systems to counter bribery. This commitment applies to everyone who works for or on behalf of BetterAlta, including directors, employees and contractors.
02What is prohibited
It is prohibited to offer, promise, give, request, agree to receive or accept a bribe — that is, any financial or other advantage intended to induce or reward the improper performance of a function or activity. This applies whether directly or through a third party, and whether the other person is in the public or private sector.
- Offering or paying bribes to win work, secure a supplier arrangement, or obtain any improper business advantage.
- Receiving bribes — including kickbacks, secret commissions or rewards for recommending a supplier.
- Facilitation payments — small unofficial payments to speed up routine actions are not permitted.
- Bribing a foreign public official to obtain or retain business or an advantage.
03Gifts and hospitality
Reasonable and proportionate gifts and hospitality given openly, for a legitimate business purpose, are acceptable. Anything intended — or that could reasonably be seen — to improperly influence a decision is not. We do not accept or offer gifts or hospitality that could compromise the independence of our advice. 04Our advisory model reduces exposure
We never touch the money. Because BetterAlta does not handle payments, hold bank details, or appear on invoices, and because commercial contracts are made directly between clients and suppliers, we are structurally removed from the transaction flows where corruption risk is highest. Our advice is paid for by the client and disclosed openly.
05Due diligence
We apply proportionate due diligence to the suppliers and partners we assess, and we consider integrity and compliance as part of supplier verification. Where we identify a bribery or corruption concern, we act on it.
06Raising a concern
Anyone who suspects bribery or corruption connected to BetterAlta should report it to hello@betteralta.com (marked "Confidential"). Concerns raised in good faith will be taken seriously, treated confidentially so far as possible, and will not result in detrimental treatment of the person who raised them.
07Consequences
Breaching this policy is a serious matter. It may lead to disciplinary action, termination of engagement, and — where the law has been broken — referral to the relevant authorities. Bribery is a criminal offence for individuals and organisations.
